We aim to provide food for our residents through our partnership with Fare Share. We distribute the food to our hostels each week and give out food parcels for those in need.
Fare Share: http://www.fareshare.org.uk/ Aim to drive away hunger and food waste by recycling food which is in date and good to eat, but has become surplus for simple reasons such as over production, labelling errors or short shelf life. Fare Share provided us with a great variety of quality produce each week including dairy products, dried goods, meat and sauces, along with fresh fruit and vegetables.
This is often produce our residents would not be able to afford. It encourages shared meal times where residents can cook, chat and eat together, this means residents are not only healthier but also happier. The food Fare Share provide is fresh and perfectly good to eat.
Fare Share Food Cloud with Tesco
This scheme, piloted with Tesco, enables us to collect unsold food from local Tesco stores with food that would otherwise would have gone to waste at the end of the day.
Greggs
Greggs have a policy to avoid wasting edible food; we collect unsold food from a couple of their stores each week.
